When should you send out your actual invitations?

I often get asked, when should you starting sending out your stationery? Is there a timeline I suggest for this process? I mean it can be a tricky one – and there are a lot of factors which come into play. For example, destination weddings always require a bit more notice. If your guest list is primarily families who will need to find care with their kids, they also might require a bit of extra time.
